ABOUT US Our Mission: “Promote & produce performing and visual arts in the city of Seguin and Guadalupe County.” Our History: Seguin Art Center (i.e., One Seguin Arts Center) is a community group that has brought live theater to the Seguin for several years. In past summers, SAC has performed popular Broadway musicals such as My Fair Lady, Meet Me in St. Louis, Cinderella, Oklahoma, and Fiddler on the Roof. The performances are complimented by full orchestra accompaniment. We also produce small stage melodramas or comedies such as The Importance of Being Ernest and Daddy’s Dying’ Whose Got the Will? Through the Seguin Art Center, veteran actors have worked hand-in-hand with community members and young, aspiring thespians to bring quality entertainment to Seguin. The Present: Seguin Art Center is in the early stages of revamping our community theatre, our image, and our level of entertainment and commitment. We are updating our goals to coincide with our communities needs. At present, we are looking into providing our local audiences with a solid-season playbill. We would like to offer a season of comedy, drama, guest artists, dinner theatres and social events to accompany our summer musicals, drama camps and scholarships. The Future: Our group wants to see live theatre grow and bloom in Seguin! SAC wishes to provide a full season of high-quality theatre for our older community and more scholarships, performance opportunities and camps for our young community. Our Home: As you may be aware, SAC does not own a performance or rehearsal facility. Seguin Art Center is actively searching for a performance, rehearsal and storage space of its own. Fundraising and grant writing efforts continue. We are looking for generous patrons to assist SAC in obtaining a piece of land with or without a building to use for performance, rehearsal space and/or to use as a storage facility for our costume shop, props and set pieces. Seguin Art Center is a qualified 501 (c) (3) organization and your gift is tax deductible (please consult your tax advisor for further guidance on deductibility).
